drool. drool. drool.
that’s all i can say right now about this out-of-this-world pearing i had this weekend.
let me introduce, the breakfast pizza.
i’ve always been curious about egg on pizza because i’ve seen it done before with dinner-type pizza’s at restaurants - but i was craving something different. and since i’m obsessed with breakfast, i decided to make a breakfast theme.
this was so simple and delicious. i went to fresh ‘n’ easy and bought some pre-made whole wheat dough and rolled it out into 8″ balls, then flatted it into little pizza circles. it made 4.
i put shredded cheese, sauteed mushrooms and peppers and green onions on mine. then i just cracked an egg on top (carefully so it doesn’t spill over the edge) and placed it in the oven on a sprayed baking sheet for about 8-10 minutes.
then you have delicious goodness. the boy decided to add some sausage to his and stuff his crust with cheese! haha. i think next time i’ll add some hashbrowns and just egg whites.
i’m ready to open up a business and start a food cart with these babies. who is with me?
p.s. im eating a leftover breakfast pizza for lunch today. don’t be jealous. just go home right away and make this – it will not disappoint!
p.s.s. i bought a silpat this weekend and cannot wait to use it!!! it’s the little things that make us happy, right?
that looks absolutely delicious!
Pizza and runny yolks are two of my favorite foods. Thanks for sharing!
I had never had it before, but I’m a believer now!
Thanks for the comment.
You SERIOUSLY just read my mind. I have been randomly thinking about breakfast pizza all week ever since I saw a pic of one on a food blog. I’ve been trying to come up with ways to make it veggie (ie no sausage or bacon) but still make it breakfast-y – I think Dan and I are going to make one for our Easter brunch on Sunday! I’ll let you know how it turns out!
Haha do it!! Send me a picture too! AND you’re supposed to send me a pic of some food here soon!
