i have the perfect little garden craft for you just in time for easter. first, take a carton of large brown eggs and when you use them, save the bottoms trying to make them big shells.
then, add a little potting soil in each egg and add a little water for moisture. it’s easier to plant the wheat berries if the soil is already damp. then add the wheat berries on top.
add a little more soil to the tops to cover and let sit in a warm place that gets both sun and shine and wait for the little grass to rise.
it should take just a couple days.
i’m hoping to get sprouts and use this as an easter dinner centerpiece.
i’ll keep you posted on the progress. in other news:
my eggplants areĀ getting so big!
and we are seeing so many tomatoes start to form! can’t wait to make some salsa.
unfortunately, the hot peppers we planted aren’t doing so well (like, not growing at all?) so we might have to transfer them. my bell peppers have little flowers budding too.
and i decided to do this just because it was funny, but my basil-in-a-bag is actually doing well.
who would have thought? (sorry pic is a little blurry)
have a great wednesday! the week is almost over! what are your easter plans? making anything super delicious? i’m thinking of a brussel sprout side and my healthy carrot cake muffins for a sweet treat.

Man, I cannot believe you already have a garden with things growing!! Tulips and daffodils only JUST popped up here and today I woke up to 40 degrees and drizzle
On another note, I am completely obsessed with wheat berries (I sprinkle them on everything for a little extra chew) but have never thought of growing any! Maybe I’ll start a garden out on my fire escape…
See, that makes me NOT want to come to NY – but I’ll suck it up!! ya’ll have great farmer’s markets, right?
